My incredibly special mom, Mary, was the keeper of our family’s recipes and food traditions, a cooking/ baking/canning extraordinaire, and so wise and confident in the kitchen. When she unexpectedly passed away, just three months after my wedding, I felt an urgent need to record and preserve our food memories, the recipes and foods that shape so much of my family’s experiences.

As I grieve, I realize how much we don’t talk openly about the bad (and the good) of the grieving process even though it can feel all-consuming each day. My goal with this site is to work through my own grief process, recording favorite recipes and family traditions as an attempt to preserve and share them; and most importantly – a space to feel close to my mom in the kitchen while hoping that others can relate and share too. She would have thought that starting a blog together was a meaningful (and fun) activity – I only wish we would have done this sooner!

Thanks for being here and I hope this will bring some comfort to you, if you also need it. I suggest starting here.
